Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church
David Anthony “Tony” Gordon was born on November 16, 1955 to the parents of Albert McDaniel and Mamie Spiller.

Tony attended John H. Reagan High School in HISD. After graduation he attended Jacksonville Baptist College where
he played Basketball. He also attended Texas Southern University.

After 1 semester at TSU, he began employment with the Metropolitan Transit Authority where he worked for 4 years.

In 1983 Tony enlisted in the United States Army where he served on active duty for 4 years, and received an Honorable Discharge.

After returning from active duty, Tony enlisted in the Army Reserve and began employment with the Texas Department of Correction where he worked for 4 years.  In 1991 Tony’s Army Reserve Unit the 808th Engineers was activated for Active Duty. During this time Tony served in the Persian Gulf War, better known as “Desert Storm”.

After returning form Desert Storm, Tony began employment with the Harris County Sheriffs Department. His unit was again activated for Active Duty in 2003 to participate in Operation Iraq Freedom. Tony has served his country proudly for 22 ½
years in the United States Army.

After visiting Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church for awhile and enjoying the services and the friendliness of the members, God directed him to become a member in 2007.

In October of 2009 Tony was hospitalized with kidney failure and liver damage. He spent 9 days in ICU. It was during this time that his faith was really tested and the Lord revealed to him what his plan was for his life. Tony believed what Pastor McDaniel had said about Greater Ebenezer, “This Church is a place of Miracles”. During his 14 day stay in the hospital his prayer everyday was “God, love me like you loved David”.

Tony accepted his calling to the ministry in November 2010 and preached his first sermon that December titled “HOLY BIBLE” “THE HIDDEN MESSAGE”.

In 1989 Tony met his beautiful wife Angela Lanette Williams. On October 1, 1990 they were married and to this union on May 6, 1991 their daughter Toni Angele’ Gordon was born. Tony also has another daughter Regina Antoinette Gordon.
